Someone mentioned that honey was good for canker sores. It is also good for a nagging dry cough. It's even better if you can warm some on the stove in a glass container and add a clove of garlic and just warm it a while and then let it cool. It tastes yummy and its the only thing that has been working for me with this left over cough I have from that rotten flu. Try it.
(side note from amythest: This Sounds like a great alternative for anyone which wants an alternative to OTC drugs for sniffles! )
Bruise with a mortar and pestle one tablespoon each of wild cherry bark, elecampane, elderberries, and aniseed. Bring one pint of water to a boil, and pour over the herbs in a mason jar. Cover and allow to steep for 4-6 hours.
Strain, then boil down to one cup. Add one-half cup honey, stir well, and refrigerate. Lasts from 3-6 months. Dosage: one teaspoon 3 times a day.
The best thing I've found for my sore throats is hot lemonade and, unfortunately, patience.
For the hot lemonade, I usually heat a mug of water and lemon juice (test for your taste) for 2 minutes in a microwave, and sweeten with honey or sugar.

If it's from allergies, you may have to attack that to get rid of post-nasal drip; try nettles. Resting your voice is the best thing you can do for laryngitis. A singer told me that whispering is worse than talking. Sip spoonfuls of honey and lemon juice, mixed. Good luck! Starfish
